Our History

The law firm of Albrechta & Liebold originated from a close friendship and personal relationship between its two partners.  John and Joe first met at the Western College of Miami University in 1975.  For three years the two aspiring lawyers developed a friendship while pursuing their Bachelor of Philosophy degrees and in the politics of changing university norms.  After graduation the future partners each explored various businesses and non-profit organizations including advocacy and social and environmental justice.  In 1980, Joe and John coincidentally showed up for night classes at the University of Toledo College of Law.  The duo spent the next 3½ years completing the law school course of study leading to obtaining their law licenses in 1984.  Both pursued different paths for a number of years, but stayed in regular contact as both friends and colleagues.  Their professional paths again crossed when they were both hired at the same law firm in Toledo.  At the end of that shared employment, they each again took a different path that ultimately led to the formation of Albrechta & Coble on February 2, 1996, in Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio.  At that time, the partnership was dedicated to civil litigation in personal injury, medical malpractice, civil rights, and employment discrimination. The firm name was changed to Albrechta & Liebold in 2024.

Our Present & Future

As the legal climate changed throughout the state of Ohio, the firm of Albrechta & Liebold acquired several smaller law practices allowing it to develop expertise in the areas of employment law, family law, probate, trusts & estates, and business planning & litigation.  The firm has continued to grow with the addition of younger lawyers and an experienced and dedicated paraprofessional staff.

The firms’ lawyers are actively involved in community, church, social justice, environmental causes, and historic preservation causes throughout the region.  We have been very successful in every case that has been accepted for argument in the Ohio Supreme Court.

In addition to our statewide practice, Albrechta & Liebold has established a virtual law firm with partner lawyers in Cincinnati, Ohio and Durango, Colorado litigating federal and state employment cases throughout the country.

The firm continues to be committed to pursuing social justice through the courts in Ohio and throughout the United States.
